eBay Leaves Commision Junction

EBay has officially divorced the Affiliate Network Giant Commission Junction. On April 1st eBay re-launched it's affiliate program, only this time it's going to be run in-house through what is now being called: the eBay Partner Network.

If you had previously signed up as an affiliate through Commission Junction you'll need to re-register and get accepted into the new program in order to participate. EBay also urges all affiliates who are migrating from the old program to the new one to create new banner advertisements and widgets instead of attempting to update the ones created under the Commission Junction housed program.

Payment Structure

EBay's "new" affiliate program gives it's members two options when it comes to getting paid.

One way to earn money is through eBay revenue; the way you earn a commission is when one of your referred users places a bid on an item or uses Buy It Now (BIN) within the first seven days of following your link.

The other way to earn affiliate commissions is when your referred visitor becomes a new active confirmed registered user or ACRU for short. In order for a user to be deemed as an ACRU, the visitor must have followed your affiliate link, registered on the site, confirmed their account and placed a bid on any item or used the Buy It Now feature within their first 30 days as members.

So How Much Do I Earn?

The amount of commission you make is based on a percentage of the fees earned by eBay associated with a winning bid by one of your referred users. It can get pretty in-depth to try to explain it, and the amount of the commission also varies depending on which site you sent the user to, as you have the option of sending your visitors to ebay US, Half.com, or a variety of other Countries' eBay websites. Maintenance to the Affiliate Outlook Link DB

Announcements - April 23, 2008

As some of you may have noticed many of the links on this blog are broken. I accidentally wiped my links DB clean while cleaning my server and now am faced with the daunting task of going through each post on this blog and replacing all of the broken links.

Here's what happened in a lump sum:

A few months ago I began cloaking my links using the web links module of a CMS I had been developing for the official Affiliate Outlook website. Then, a few weeks ago I decided not use the CMS anymore and completely wiped all of the files and DB out of existence. Bad move, I know.... It's ok though, just another experience to learn from.

I plan to have all of the links working properly by Friday (05.02.2008).. If you happen to find any broken links after that, please send me an email here so that I can replace the invalid URL.

*I'm also working on a couple of graphics for the blog as I've become bored with the cookie-cutter template look, so you can look forward to that as well in the near future.
